Sydney became the fifth most polluted city in the world after dozens of bushfires cloaked the city in a thick haze.

There were 328 micrograms of pollutions per cubic metre of air in parts of western Sydney, where as Jakarta had 112.

More than 350 koalas are feared to have been killed by bushfires in Australia's New South Wales state, animal experts say.

Local animal experts Koala Hospital Port Macquarie said the fires have "decimated" the area, which is a key habitat and breeding ground for the creatures.

I can’t believe I was only in Singapore last month and it was so smoggy from forest burning in Indonesia I could barely breathe. Then to be told that the smog levels in Sydney last week were worst than Indonesia! This is horrific that our air quality is this bad!
